Allergic Reactions, Bruises, Swelling, Eyebrow/eyelid dropping asymmetry
Eyebrow shape can dramatically alter appearance and a gently arched eyebrow conveys an attractive, youthful, happy and confident individual. This notably relates to females, as the ideal male eyebrow tends to be lower set and less arched. The lateral eyebrow is particularly prone to hooding as we age with loss of elasticity. It can be difficult to apply eye shadow and there may be an expression of tiredness and worry.
By injecting botox into the muscles that depress the eyebrow, a lifted brow can be achieved. This treatment is frequently done in conjunction with other areas such as the crowâ??s feet which can greatly help to open the eye.
Indication: Heavy eyebrows or eyelids.
Muscle Targeted: The superior lateral portion of the orbicularis oculi.
Muscle Action: When contracted this muscle pulls down, depressing the lateral part of the eyebrow.
Botox Brow Lift Treatment: Small doses of botulinum toxin under the lateral part of the eyebrow. This relaxes the muscle responsible for the downward pull of the eyebrow. There are alternative muscles treated which can help to achieve an eyebrow lift such as: Frontalis muscle of the forehead: This muscle elevates the eyebrows and treatment can be tailored to enhance the lift or to lower as required.
Glabellar complex involved in frowning: These muscles pull the medial eyebrows together and downwards. Treatment with botulinum toxin can help to lift the medial portion of the eyebrows.
