Life isn’t always a box of chocolates, and sometimes it throws at us events which just get us frowning. Or, you might have even lived a charmed life but suffer from poor vision or just a predisposition towards pulling a frown when concentrating. Couple this with age and you might suffer from lines that appear between the eyebrows and across the forehead when frowning. However, no matter what the reason is for your wrinkly brow, know that there is a simple solution to banishing frown lines. Presenting effective Botox treatments that combat the appearance of stress and aging.
Frown lines are also known as Glabella lines and are caused by the repeated action of frowning and a lack of elasticity in the skin (usually as it ages). The problem with these lines is that they can make you appear older, angrier or more stressed than you actually are. In fact, many people suffering from extreme frown lines report a decrease in self-esteem with some even depressed about their appearance. And while we cannot stop aging altogether, we can slow it down by targeting smile lines, wrinkles, crow’s feet and frown lines with some of the world’s leading technologies.
In this day and age, everyone will be familiar with Botox and it still remains a very effective way to reduce the tension and appearance of stress and aging. Not only this but Botox has been proven to produce very natural results and has a very minimal recovery time when compared to the likes of lifts.
Botox is used to relax the muscles in the face which are known to create both wrinkles and fine lines. Botox not only works to smooth and eliminate these lines but also prevent any further deepening of these lines. The whole procedure should take 10 minutes and involves an experienced surgeon placing the correct dose for you into the right muscle, which should be around 5 injections (1 in the procerus muscle and 4 in the corrugator muscles). When injected, Botox blocks the nerve impulses to the tissues and all muscle activity that causes frown lines are reduced.
It’s worth noting that any injection can hurt but that the needles are so small for Botox that they pain is usually minimal. The area to be injected can first be numbed with either a cold pack or an aesthetic cream. The procedure is relatively painless with most patients reporting that it hurts no more than eyebrow plucking. In fact, there is no downtime associated with Botox which makes it a straight-forward and easy solution to combat the appearance of frown lines.
You should see improvement as early as 2-3 days but know that Botox requires 2-4 days for it to attach to the nerve ending that would normally simulate the muscle to contract. This process is usually complete within 14 days, meaning that 2 weeks after your injections you will witness the full effect.
There are a lot of variables that impact how often you should have Botox but, in general, our practitioners recommend every 3-4 months depending on your age, sun exposure, diet, exercise routine and many other factors. Like with any injection of any medication, your body's immune system can develop antibodies to the medication. This then renders the drug less effective. This means that the more frequently the drug is injected or the more quantity that is injected, the higher the risk for these antibodies to be formed against the drug.
Nothing shows results better than before and after photos. All of our photos are genuine, unaltered and show how youthful Botox can leave the features.
Everyone is different but in our strive for a natural finish – we aspire to still allow the patient some minimal movement in the forehead. This creates a more natural impression than the ‘frozen forehead’ often wrongly attributed with Botox.
It’s worth noting that the majority of patients report no side effects at all. However, 3% report eyelid drooping in the frown lines. Other side effects include discomfort, pain at the injection site (particular when aesthetic has worn off), dry mouth, headache, tiredness, neck pain, eye pain, double vision or blurred vision and allergic reactions.
We understand that Botox can be a commitment since it requires 3-4 top ups per year. However, we do not suggest shopping around and looking for cheaper prices. On the contrary, the cheaper the price for this service, the lower the skill of the practitioner, and the higher the risk of side effects and poor end results. It’s very important you seek out a Botox practitioner with a long experience in Botox injections.
If you have been diagnosed with a migraine and get migraine headaches often, you may wonder if there's anything you can do to prevent them.
