What Is Retin A (Tretinoin) Cream

Retin A is a vitamin A form that promotes skin renewal. It is generally available on a doctors prescription for moderate to severe photo-ageing as well acne conditions. Retinaldehyde is the closest form of Retin A without prescription. In long term studies, it provides similar results.

Active forms of Vitamin A  are known as retinoids.  Retinol, Retinal, Retin A are all retinoids whic increase cellular turnover. In the skin retinol is converted to retinal which is converted to Retin A, the most active form.  Hence, this form is prescription only. It is traditionally used to treat acne and dark spots.

Is granactive retinoid an ordinary retinol?

Granactive retinoid is a delivery system for HPR(hydroxypinacolone retinoate), a weaker form of retinol. Higher percentages and naming style confuse consumers to thinking it is a higher concentration retinol.  It is not similar to the ordinary retinol ingredient.

Why Retinaldehyde over Retinol or Retin A

Retinal (retinaldehyde) is suitable for sensitive skin due to its non irritating properties, despite being the closest derivative to retin a.  Hence, it is also popular among individuals trying a retinoid for the first time.

Retinaldehyde works for anti-ageing, photodamage and pigment issues like melasma. Stimulate RE gets converted to retinoic acid in the skin cells via conversion steps. Studies show that regular retinal use is superior in the long term to retinoic acid for collagen & hyaluronic production.

Retinoid acid directly influence the core nucleus (command centre) off the cell.   Consequently, it binds to specific receptors regulating cell function and stimulate production of collagen, elastin and new cells.

Retin A % Retinaldehyde Tips And Suggestions:

Use in low quantities in the early stages of treatment while skin builds tolerance; persist through it. RetinAl (instead of RetinOl) is less irritating to the skin, and most individuals with sensitive skin can easily tolerate it.

Strengthens the skin barrier in individuals with “sensitised skin”; the initial acute inflammatory stage subsides with consistent use.

Retinaldehyde For Sensitive Skin

“Sensitised Skin” is chronic inflammation. Inducing acute inflammation is ironically the treatment process to repair chronic inflammation of the skin. Use L-ascorbic acid (vitamin c serum) in the daytime for decreasing side effects such as redness and rarely hyper-pigmentation.

Protect the skin from prolonged direct sun exposure in the initial stages; use SPF as required.

Frequently Asked Questions

Retinaldehyde is a stable form of Vitamin A that gradually transforms to Retinoic Acid in your skin. In the Retinoic family, Retinaldehyde is a gentler form.

Retinaldehyde, like Retinol, rejuvenates the skin and promotes the cell renewal process, but in a less irritating manner.

Thanks to the conversion mechanism within the skin, this form of Vitamin A can rejuvenate your skin on the cellular level.

Retinaldehyde has been discovered to be friendlier on the skin than other types of retinol. Therefore allowing people with sensitive skin to enjoy a retinol-based product without having to experience typical adverse effects.

Retinaldehyde Serum by Harley Street Formulations is an ideal addition to your skincare if you either have sensitive skin or moderate to severe adverse effects with products containing pure vitamin A (retinol).

Belonging to the family of Retinol means that Retinaldehyde has a long list of skin enhancing benefits such as:

  • Increased cell turnover for a smoother even tones skin
  • A boost in collagen and elastin production
  • Balances oil production and refines your pores
  • Thickens the inner layers of your skin

Retinaldehyde is also becoming growingly popular in acne products since retinol has been shown to help speed up cell turnover.

This leads to the shedding of dead skin cells more quickly, revealing new, healthy skin cells.

Moreover, formulations to treat blackheads, cystic acne, and acne scars are among the acne treatments that now include retinaldehyde.

Consistency is the key, and HSF experts recommend you to follow the instructions strictly for desirable results. Every skincare product needs your investment of time to prove its worth.

Retinaldehyde Serum might take three to six months of regular usage to see visible changes in the skin. For the best outcomes might take anywhere from 6 to 12 months.

If you are new to Vitamin A skincare, then it’s best to start gently.

  • Start with clean, dry skin and use a pea-sized amount of the Retinaldehyde serum once or twice a week to observe how your skin reacts. From there, you may slowly increase the frequency with which you use it.
  • Because retinaldehyde can break down when exposed to the sun, it must only be used at night.
  • Do not forget to use sunscreen when you step outdoors in day time since it might make your skin more sensitive to UV radiation.

I have been using this for about a year now. I used it every night as a night booster. It does not irritate my skin as retinol does. However, I can see improved skin texture in the past year. My fine lines also became less visible. I will continue using it! Highly Recommend
